MD (allopathic) vs. DO (osteopathic)

An osteopath (D.O.) is a fully educated and licensed physician who’s authorized to do surgery and prescribe pharmaceuticals. For historical reasons, schools of osteopathy grant D.O. degrees, but they’re equivalent to the M.D. degrees granted by “regular” medical schools. Osteopaths are accepted into residency and fellowship programs just like M.D. graduates are

Osteopaths mainly work in private practices but also work in a range of health settings including multidisciplinary medical/health clinics, rehabilitation clinics etc. They may elect to work as surgeons in a hospital setting, in a hospital's emergency department, or in another hospital unit, caring for patients with injuries or life-threatening illnesses such as heart failure etc or serious conditions

What is the difference between osteopathy and orthopedic surgeons are MD's who specialize in the musculoskeletal system, the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, etc

This further complicated by Integrative MD “Integrative medicine” is a specialty field of medical care and a newer term that emphasizes the integration of complementary therapies and conventional treatments, Alternative medicine refers to non-mainstream practices used instead of conventional medicine. Integrative medicine is health care that uses all appropriate therapeutic approaches conventional atypical
