It also inhibited the growth of new blood vessels (angiogenesis) in mice with cancer, which helps reduce tumor growth [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4848839\/\">R<\/a>].<\/li>\n<li>Mogrosides inhibited the proliferation of cancer cells in mice [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/27304964\">R<\/a>].<\/li>\n<li>Cucurbitacin E inhibited the growth of human breast cancer cells in the lab [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3759486\/\">R<\/a>].<\/li>\n<li>Triterpene glycosides significantly inhibited the effects of carcinogens (cancer-causing substances) on mouse skin tumors [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/12893428\">R<\/a>].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If used as a replacement for sugar, monk fruit extract may help limit the fuel (glucose) cancer needs to thrive and protect the genes that initiate cancer cell death (p53) [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/17349091\">R<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/15826043\">R<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26729790\">R<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p><b>Clinical trials are needed to investigate the anticancer effects of monk fruit extract. At this point, we can\u2019t tell what role, if any, it may have in cancer prevention or treatment.<\/b><\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"4_Obesity_and_Diabetes\"><b>4) Obesity and Diabetes<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The therapeutic effects of monk fruit on diabetic rabbits was studied by administering an extract for 4 weeks.
