Regulations set manufacturing standards for them but don&#8217;t guarantee that they&#8217;re safe or effective. Speak with your doctor before supplementing.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Possibly_Effective_For\"><a id=\"post-26180-_dywy5bcucp1i\"><\/a>Possibly Effective For<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><a id=\"post-26180-_238ditbbuzcb\"><\/a>1) Blood Pressure<\/h4>\n<p><em>L. helveticus<\/em> fermented milk lowered blood pressure in 154 hypertensive subjects (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/16364832\">R<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/15175633\"> R<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>In 40 subjects with high-normal blood pressure or mild hypertension, daily ingestion of tablets containing powdered fermented milk with <em>L. helveticus<\/em> reduced blood pressure without any adverse effects (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/16093403\">R<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Long-term treatment with <em>L. helveticus<\/em>-fermented milk reduced arterial stiffness in 89 hypertensive subjects (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2857163\/\">R<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><em>L. helveticus<\/em> produces angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitory peptides that may prevent or control high blood pressure (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/26004829\">R<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Insufficient_Evidence_For\"><a id=\"post-26180-_i6q2bblzfrgm\"><\/a>Insufficient Evidence For<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The following purported benefits are only supported by limited, low-quality clinical studies. There is insufficient evidence to support the use of <em>L. helveticus<\/em> for any of the below-listed uses. symptoms of arthritis in mice (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4182466\/\">R<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"post-26180-_e8iictpozz8c\"><\/a>11) Allergies<\/h4>\n<p><em>L. helveticus<\/em> alone or in combination with <em>S. thermophiles<\/em> reduced the antigenicity of \u03b1-lactalbumin and \u03b2-lactoglobulin, the major allergens in cow\u2019s milk (<a href=\"https:\/\/selfhacked.com\/blog\/bee-propolis\/\">propolis<\/a>, including esters of caffeic acid (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3370499\/\">R<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h4><a id=\"post-26180-_ge1ruxomsyoq\"><\/a>12) Bone Loss<\/h4>\n<p><em>L. helveticus<\/em> fermented milk whey contains bioactive components that may promote bone formation (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/15268972\">R<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><em>L. helveticus-<\/em>fermented milk prevented bone loss by decreasing bone turnover and increasing bone mineral density in
