NK cells are hypothesized to become active around 3 days after infection [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5601256\/\">R<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>Studies suggest that NK cells develop long-lived and highly-specific memories to a variety of targets [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/21739673\">R<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>These cells are extremely diverse, as are genetic factors impacting them [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/14688463\">R<\/a>].<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Function\"><a id=\"post-14954-_bfen7uqvrt81\"><\/a>Function<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>According to recent scientific reviews, people who are genetically-deficient in NK cells have regular viral infections and die prematurely [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3917661\/\">R<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>Individuals deficient in NK cells are prone to early phases of herpesvirus infection [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/terms\/natural_killer_cell.htm\">R<\/a>].
