It prompts cells to take in more glucose, which reduces insulin resistance. Resveratrol also protects the insulin-secreting beta cells in the pancreas, which helps increase insulin when it’s low and decrease it when it’s too high [30]. Wow, this is the best medicine for lowering blood sugar.

Resveratrol has more mechanisms of action than simply SIRT1. It can theoretically have pathways where it causes pro-cancer and anti-cancer effects. Polyphenols and flavanoids are generally anti-cancer on the whole.

Thank you, Joe! I suggest you look into ways to naturally increase testosterone in this post: https://selfhacked.com/blog/testosterone-will-add/. We also have a post about SHBG you may find useful: https://selfhacked.com/blog/sex-hormone-binding-globulin-shbg/

I am looking a reversatrol and liked your article. Trying to avoid TRT that DR wants to put me on. Last resort. My SHGB is always high (out of range) causing free T to be low. Overall T isn’t bad though.

But you state resveratrol and quercetein combats cancers, how come contra-info?

It probably suppresses the thyroid. I’m with the Peat guys on this one, not a good supplement as far as I am concerned, too many complaints from users, as well.

I read the study that says Resveratrol blunts cardiovascular benefits from lets say, weight training and cardio on a treadmill. But this study was also of men in their mid 60’s… I am 35.

I would love to try this supplement but am now worried that the heart health benefits of weight training and cardio would decline in the process. Thus, my heart health would decline…

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!!!

Thank you!!

How much Risverotrol would you recommend taking for someone with severe and chronic EBV? I’m having trouble finding articles on the benefits of Resverotrol when comes to EBV. Found some blog and all the folks were saying it was helping.

I’m torn between trying Res or Low Dose Naltrexone first. Thoughts? My inclination is the Res cuz maybe less side effects (?)

Thanks!

My theory has just been to take it on resting days/days you dont exercise or take it in the morning and exercise at like 5pm or so. Idk how long it lasts in the body but i highly doubt it will negate it to a big degree when split like that.

I wonder if the resveratrol would have any beneficial affect on bone marrow.
