T4 has to be converted into T3 to have a physiological effect. The problem is that some people do not convert T4 into T3 very well (it takes iodine, selenium, zinc, cortisol, progesterone, glutathione and hydrogen peroxide (Vit C) to convert T4 into T3. So some people may have a normal TSH and T4 and still feel poorly. No T3 present. Measure fT3 (free T3) which should be mid-range to upper level to thrive and not just survive.
