The vast majority of beans are not high in salicylates. They are low and safe. Like grains.
Also, a common symptom of sals sensitivity to add to the list is tinnitus (possibly primarily in one ear). The volume of the tinnitus is also dose dependent.

I have trawled the internet to educate myself and try to find help as the hospital didn’t seem to have any solutions and the dietician I spoke to knew nothing of the condition.

I am currently in a regular flare up which looking at your study, amongst other things, could have been caused by soy.

Most other studies/apps. say soy and soy sauce is low or no salicylates, but you mention above soy is high, on what basis was this determined please? I have been pescatarian for a few months now, I retained fish as I read the studies on fish oil, however I use soy & soy sauce regularly in my diet that I’m now wondering about using. I also read that olive oil is high in salicylates however you mention here it is low in salicylates.

Obviously in this arena there is a lot of conflicting information which makes it so difficult to manage, and frustrating, hence I wanted to reach out on these two points to try and get some clarity. Any help or guidance you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your work and publishing this article.
Do you know of any articles I can read about multiple food intolerances? I have Coeliac Disease and I am also intolerant to salicylates, amines, glutamates, sulfites, sulfates and I am lactose intolerant.
I live in New Zealand and thus far I haven’t been able to find anyone who deals with multiple food intolerances.
Kind regards, Lee Jenkins

I thought it seemed a lot but curious as to your view.

Concentrated Fish Omega-3 Triglycerides 1.2 g.
Equiv. Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) 463 mg.
Equiv. Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) 231 mg.

One thing I am a little confused about though is that you list Olive Oil as low salicylate while all the other lists say it is high or very high

And more importantly, where’s the information on how to clear salicylates from the body? Why don’t any of these ‘health sites’ talk the way the body eliminates sals/phenols?

Also, a lot of people with salicylate intolerance have histamine and glutamate intolerances, so make sure you don’t have foods high in those if sensitive to those too.

After 2 dermatologists and 2 allergists, it became necessary that I determine my allergy. Your article is very helpful, but there was an omission that is critical to my wellbeing. Yellow #5 is the worse culprit. Apparently people allergic to aspirin are usually allergic to this food color. It is very widespread in packaged foods and of course in treats of all kinds. Please consider an amendment as this produces hives and asthma in me much more quickly and severely than anything else. Again thank you for your interest. Kathy Hall

Soap for my family and have only found things saying olive oil is very high salicylate. I would love confirmation that it is not, as it makes great soap! Also, I have always assumed tomato products that are cooked have more salicylate due to the evaporation of water, thus concentration of the rest of the tomato, including salicylates.

So you know why there might be conflicting information?
