Waves of food poisoning-like pain and such forceful diarrhea that my anus quickly got sore. When I was growing up we rarely went to restaurants but there was a place in Duluth MN that he took us a couple times for steaks. Of the seven in our family only my youngest sister and I got violently ill, both times. Many years later the asian immigrants brought papaya salad to MN. At first I thought it was the seed-filled hot peppers,but after I ate it with no thai chilies and I still got sick I finally put it together. My dad was cheap with us kids so they must have used a lower grade of beef that they tenderized with papain. I am having trouble finding any info on this reaction, and don’t know where I could report it.

I might add from personal experience that papaya enzyme does indeed help people that are suffering from symptoms of IBS-D, not just IBS-C. It indeed is a wonder supplement that Ranitidine and probiotics can’t compete with when it comes to IBS-D.
