Folate should not be conflated with folic acid. Folate is a water soluble B vitamin (there are several subtypes) while folic acid is a non water soluble precursor that is converted to folate by an enzyme in the liver. Folate has to be methylated to work in the body and unmethylated folic acid (UMFA) can build up in the blood stream, giving an apparently healthy level while RBC folate is still way too low. The C677T MTHFR SNP (about 50% of the population, inhibits methylation efficiency by about 40-70% and calls for supplementation only with methyl folate, never folic acid.

The quality of the articles is subnormal. Please clarify what folate levels test are you talking about? Folate (Folic Acid), Folate, RBC, Folate, RBC and Serum. You haven’t researched this enough to show validity of one test over another for disease prevention and MTHFR mutations.
