Was told by alternative doctor most people that have had cancer general test positive for a fungus called Funneliformis Mosseae. This test is very expensive and yes I tested positive. Fry labs is the only other place I know that test for this particular fungus. My question is do you all test for this and if so what is your treatment. I was prescribed a compound medicine which I completed taking but need to be retested. I am no longer seeing the alternative doctor due to it being so very expensive. They do not take insurance you have to pay cash or use credit cards. You help would be greatly appreciated.

I am also waiting on my dna kit. I have elevated homocysteine which ranges from 14-15 but also seem to have some kidney issues going on. The b vitamins and TMG did nothing to reduce homocysteine so I am thinking its more kidney related. Cant really say anything here has helped. Anyone have advice as to why I am not able to lower my homocystiene?

Thanks.

Regarding B vitamin supplementation being HARMFUL. In the citation #85 and hip fractures in postmenopausal women… The has proven time and time again to be a HORMONE deficiency related problem. WE replace the deficient E2 and P4 and bone density issues are reversed with time (based on the protocol used).
So many disease processes are scientifically linked to B vitamin deficiencies that we cannot ignore its importance. To not seek out B replete foods would be foolish. Is one does not eat B rich foods then supplementation would be warranted imho.

Thanks

I’ve recently did a homocysteine test and it was on the low end. Looked into the ‘problem’ with low homocysteine and came across a paper that mentioned that low H causes the body to be less likely to respond to oxidative stress. Incidentally my glutathione was on the low end too. Strange, because I take NAC.

He had stopped taking homocysteine supreme for many years. Now in his 30’s he has gout intermittently and elevated ck level, inflammation, and has had 3 bouts of late of rabdomyalitis. I feel restarting this would be beneficial.

Go to a plant based diet.

The supplements are curcumin, sulforaphane and green tea. Here are the links:

“Bioactive components from dietary supplements, such as the potent hypomethylating agent curcumin [25, 26, 27••], may represent attractive agents for cancer prevention or treatment.”
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4596544/

“Sulforaphane (SFN), a dietary phytochemical, was found to be an epigenetic modulator, namely SFN promoted global DNA hypomethylation and changes in microRNA profile that resulted in cell cycle arrest and cellular senescence in three breast cancer cell lines (Fig. (Fig.88).”
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5596436/

“Three out of four mouse model studies have confirmed the inhibitory effect of (–)-epigallocatechin gallate on DNA methylation.”
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3970408/

The article on EGCG does admit the evidence for methylation might be weak, but the articles for curcumin and sulforaphane are solid.

I would be interested in anyone’s comments on this as my biochemistry background is weak, but my interest is strong.

Thanks

That may counter the info in this article. Here is the link:

I used Methyl Guard Plus from Thorne Research which has the B vitamin cofactors in addition to the active folate and high dose of the betaine/TMG. My follow up test a few months later showed levels of 16 so it went down but somehow I expected more of a drop. Perhaps there is more involved here that I assumed.

High SAM levels, high insulin levels, oxidative stress can cause that. If that is the case you could be prone to NAFL and/or diabetes. Phosphatidylserine may help. P5P help me. Also taking minerals helps especially minerals that support the CBS pathway. Also address the cause of the oxidative stress.

My latest turn in this whole methylation genetic nightmare (to include homocysteine)? Added as much TMG as I could tolerate only to see my homocysteine levels go up even higher – arghhhh!!! Sick of all of it….

Sorry to hear. I’ve seen many clients tell the exact same story on my genetic consults. I’d say do the other things first to address the problem. If you need more help, you can book a consult with Joe at selfhacked.com/contact, or me or other specialists at selfhacked.com/consult-specialists/. We just recorded a podcast episode about this which will help you a lot. It will be released around end of this month.

I get it, what I need to take. What happens with those of us who CANNOT start “slowly enough” due to enzyme deficiencies or genetic dysfunction? If we can’t tolerate choline, methyls, etc.etc. Is there no hope? As an intelligent person who has researched 6 archives boxes’ worth of info in order to heal, what if my body will not allow it due to deficiencies I cannot overcome? Seriously…I have tried EVERYTHING. And today I just found out my Homocystein level has doubled…am I destined to simply deteriorate and waste away because my body cannot tolerate the very things it desperately needs?

Choline / lecithin is a methyl donor as well.

Can’t handle Trimethylglycine? (TMG, referred to as betain in the article) have you tried methyl-b12 instead of the normal otc b12(cyano-b12)? Some people have trouble trouble converting the cyano to the methyl form

Trimethylglycine (TMG), not just glycine. The article mentions betain, wich is referring to TMG. TMG is a betain, and is usually synonymous, but it’s not the only betain. TMG is how is a methyl group storage and donor. Google methylation protocol for lots more info.

If I eat a good I am sensitive to I get a migraine about 20minutes later. Migraine can last 12 hours. Only relief and sometimes that doesn’t work ….is the migraine medicine. Narcotics and pain relievers do nothing. Have taken liquid benedryl to calm my stomach when I am nauseated.

Does anyone know a lab or home test I can use? Also, I read that glycine can lower homocysteine. Do you have any information on this?
