I started reviewing infrared tech recently, wondering if you could point me to a source confirming “far infrared saunas are FDA approved?” I kinda searched the FDA databases, but failed to find any. Would very much appreciate your help.

Best regards,

1. Light therapy is now generally known as Photobiomodulation or PBM. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5215795/ As this article notes, it is not often that a scientific field changes its name!
2. There have been many advances with broad spectrum PBM lights. The Genesis Health Light is an example of a broad spectrum (primarily NIR) light source that is FDA cleared. https://genesishealthlight.com/ It is cleared for pain relief, inflammation reduction and accelerated healing.
3. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is quite different from PBM due to the involvement of a photosensitive drug but quite clearly it works. The FDA has cleared PDT for acne https://www.verywellhealth.com/photodynamic-therapy-15630, actinic keratosis and certain skin cancers https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2503644/ https://www.cancer.ca/en/cancer-information/cancer-type/skin-non-melanoma/treatment/photodynamic-therapy/?region=on and several specific cancers. PDT is extremely common in dermatology clinics but rare elsewhere due to the current limitation of topical drugs.
4. Several companies are developing PDT solutions for internal cancer. Kintera Therapeutics is developing a PDT method to treat breast cancer. https://www.kintara.com/pipeline/rem-001. Illumacell Inc. uses a high powered red LED light system with 5-ALA to target solid tumors. https://www.illumacell.com/

I have not had a cold. Amazing for me as I have a permanent chest infection and can go down with pneumonia rapidly. I have half a left lung and I am permanently on antibiotics. Since using the torch I have had a brilliant year and feel great.

I have a question, what kind of infrared light therapy device can you recommend for wrinkles? Do you think if i buy a 660nm or 860nm red light therapy LED desk lamp and just turn on with about 1 foot away from my face is beneficial for the skin? Because most LED face devices out on the market just allows 15 to 20 mins treatment.
Do you think exposing to red light 660nm to 860nm is fine as a lamp or light source, will this not affect the eyesight?

They then conclude that IR damages the eye!
