Comments on: What is Immunoglobulin A (IgA)? I understand there is IgA deficiency which is typically the result of problems of B cell maturation etc. Then there is also low IgA–where IgA is produced, just in limited amounts.
The article talks about ways of raising IgA levels. (reduce stress, take probiotics etc etc). Does this apply only to people who are merely low in IgA—or does the information ALSO apply to people who are IgA deficient (less then < 7 mg/dl of IgA) ?

Everything seems to be about increasing levels, not reducing them. I’m assuming that I’d need to find out what environmental or dietary factors could be triggering this elevated response? Then would it be as simple as avoiding them or are there other lifestyle choices that need to be made?

I don’t think you mentioned Saccharomyces Boulardii and I read that it increases IgA. I have low normal IgA but my Hemotologist says it is significant. I started taking Saccharomyces Boulardii and my persistent UTI symptoms (I could stop the symptom from getting bad with yogurt internally and drinking lots of fluid but the UTI attempt was persistent until I started Saccharomyces Boulardii) and irritated stomach stopped. I take 20 billion CFU a day. Thanks again for this important information; I got a lot of ideas to help me improve!

I know that this can’t be completely avoided, but having up to date information that is concise, complete, accurate and with all references is a great, great help! Again, Thank you!
