The mere fact that so many people have benefitted from the diet, with few, if any, negatives, proves in the real world that there is something beneficial here and that we do not completely understand humans dietary requirements. Relying on governmental guidelines and doctors that just regurgitate bad info, is foolish. We are our own lab rats. Science is awesome but scientists continue to screw it up with faulty tests, manipulated/biased tests, or just don’t control the parameters and case size to get a
True conclusive finding.

You also claim there are thyroid problems, menstrual and cholesterol problems.

These claims are all not supported by your references.

There are now tens or possibly hundreds of thousands of people eating a carnivore diet, and if we had people with scurvy, etc, we’d know about it.

Sure, claims about the benefits are anecdotal, but isn’t it remarkable that almost no one quits the carnivore diet for health reasons. Most people quitting do so for social reasons, rather than for health or because their craving brown rice or quinoa.

Scurvy is a result of not eating fresh meat (eg on ships they only had dried meat) as fresh meat does contains traces of vitamin C.
Comments about vitamin deficiency may be moot given the lack of absorption of the body to plant based nutrients (we don’t have four stomachs and we dont eat our own faeces a couple of times like koala bears or rabbits). So a carrot for vitamin A might see us absorbing 3 percent of it.
There are many proper studies of carnivore you seemed to have overlooked I guess the mainstream studies are all sponsored by big agriculture and what not,
thanks for the article an interesting read but since going full carnivore and eating no fruit or veggies at all I no longer need to take any supplements, my teeth have improved and hair and lost a lot of weight and feel fantastic

Having said that however, I am well aware that sometimes diets have temporary effects in the beginning that are positive but over time prove to be less than ideal and sometimes even dangerous. Veganism, for example, often gives positive results at first but eventually begins to lead to malnourishment which then leads to many other health problems. YouTube (I know, not the same thing as a scientific journal) is filled with many videos of ex-vegans who practically all say that for about two to two and a half years it was great, but then…… (There are some vegans that manage to stay vegan for longer periods but mostly because they take a lot of nutritional supplements.) Any how, all that to say I am not married to any kind of dogma concerning the carnivore diet. Yes, I like it. Yes, it has so far helped me tremendously and yes it’s convenient and tasty which I really, really like. I’ve been on it now (not super strict but fairly strict) for almost two years and so far so good, but the moment I notice any new health problems or the return or worsening of older ones, I will definitely rethink it. But for now my motto(s) are: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and “You can’t argue with success”.

You use words like may and could, all nutritional research is observational or associational. For years saturated fat was wrongly accused or promoting disease, no longer. Most doctors and dieticians will recommend a high carb diet with all the associated ill health that comes with it. People are taking things into their own hands and do not trust clueless professionals any more as decades of their advice has led to massive ill health.
